The Stewart boutique residential complex at Randwick is a case study in organic form and function. A textural delight, this project was driven by the need to minimise interference with its native surroundings.
Drawing on the manipulation of contemporary materials and construction methods, this unassuming facade blurs the lines between modern eclecticism and the surrounding natural environment. With its shifting interplay against the sun throughout the day, Jackson Teece delivered an evolving architectural statement that gently welcomes its residents
The complex comprises 53 residential dwellings and basement-level car parking for 70 vehicles close to Randwick’s retail centre.The overall design development incorporates the study of single north facing apartments using semi-enclosed walkways and light wells to the southern side of the building. Those within are never too far away from the soft glow of diffused afternoon light, and it’s a reminder that while the vast expanse of Sydney is always close by, it doesn’t have to feel like it.
