CARRINGTON CARE MAYFARM COTTAGES

Sydney Architecture Completed Senior Living & Residential Care Interior Design Masterplanning
  • Client:

    Carrington Care

  • Location:

    Camden, NSW Australia

Located next to the Paling Court Residential Aged Care Facility within Carrington Care’s Camden campus, this greenfield site accommodates independent living units configured as two and three bedroom cottages.

Ultimately, the houses are a contemporary interpretation of traditional colonial farmhouses, with extensive use of verandas and covered external walkways to allow for multiple points of access from internal rooms. Once inside, bedrooms and bathrooms can be found in a private residential wing, while leisure spaces – including living room, dining room and kitchen – can be found in a separate wing for residents and their guests.

Responding to the need for community connection in a sprawling outdoor environment, Jackson Teece was commissioned to master plan the site, including new roads, pedestrian footpaths and an overland water flow along a residual waterway. Following a gentle downhill slope falling to the south-east, the cottages exist in sync with their surrounding habitat – a sparse collection of muted native trees and the rugged scrub that sits beneath
